			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://teamsakina.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/resakinafoot.jpg"></a>Team Sakina finished it&#8217;s winter season, a cold five week series kept warm by the energy of the group (and not just from running itself <img src='http://s0.wp.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> .</p>
<p><strong><span style="color:#339966;">After a week break, </span><span style="color:#339966;">Thursday evening runs will return again this Thursday, February 25th. </span></strong></p>
<p><strong>Quick Facts</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="text-decoration:underline;">When</span>: Thursdays at 6:30. Please arrive in time for any brief announcements and arranging small groups for various pace/distances to start promptly at 6:30.</li>
<li><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Where</span>: Wilson Park off of Greensboro St. in the heart of Carrboro. We&#8217;ll meet in the lower parking lot to avoid traffic going in and out of the park. It is small enough I&#8217;m confident everyone should be able to find the group. I&#8217;ll wear my Team Sakina shirt with a neon yellow shirt under it if anyone is new to the group</li>
<li><span style="text-decoration:underline;">What</span> : An evening social run through the roads or trails in and around the park. Thursday evenings right now are an opportunity for women in the community to come and enjoy running with a group.
<ul>
<li>All distances and paces are welcome. As the weeks pass, the length of the day will allow for trail runs as an option in addition to the roads.</li>
<li>The event will not be led by Team Sakina coach Kerry Brewer except to promote gathering everyone together and facilitating an enjoyable run. Any previous season coaches or participants are invited to come with a route in mind.</li>
<li>The framework of these runs is that: we are all participants and supporters in our own wellness and that of others. Just as much a &#8220;team&#8221; , as we will runs by each other&#8217;s side, but also each runner is encouraged take strides towards one&#8217;s own wellness goals. More than the sum of its individuals, sustained by the community of women formed around this common pursuit.</li>
<li>There will be no registration or cost for joining the run as this will be an unofficial gathering rather than a Team Sakina &#8220;season&#8221;.</li>
<li>The &#8220;buddy system&#8221;  will be the safety mode encouraged every week-  make sure that someone knows you have arrived, where you are running and when have you returned. Please do the same for at least one otherl. However, please come with safety in mind- for yourself and others.   </li>
</ul>

<p><strong>Note</strong>: While not a formal Team Sakina season,  I, Kerry will post to this blog  if I am not attending and any announcements will be made if the run will not be held because of extreme weather conditions, etc. Otherwise, rather than posting that we will run each week, all of the information on this post should be assumed as accurate and that these Thursday night runs are taking place!</p>

<p><span style="color:#339966;"><strong>Week 5&#8242;s</strong> </span><strong>run for today, 2/11 will be held at 6:30 at my house (Kerry&#8217;s house at 100-A Crest St. Carrboro).  A variety of distances from 3 to 8 miles have been run thus far and at many paces. No registration needed  just that you can run 3 miles <img src='http://s0.wp.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> .</strong> <em>If you are joining for the first time, all information can be found under the Winter Season Information category.</em></p>
<p><strong>Beyond this week:</strong> The next steps for Team Sakina are currently being discussed and finalized with coaches and I welcome any feedback from participants on their interests. The outline will be posted by the end of the weekend.</p>

<p><strong>Between the strides:</strong> Though the Winter season will be ending and what the next major stride the team will make will not be starting next week, I am open to continuing Thursday evening runs similar to the Winter season structure. I will clarify this weekend the specifics but I will be running and doing yoga on Thursday evenings if anyone would like to join.</p>
<p><strong>&#8212;-Wrightsville Beach 1/2 marathon and marathon</strong>- We have a small group running and open spots to stay at my beach house for free! Register and run or join us in a weekend away supporting those running and enjoying friendships and the ocean! (I, for example, will not be running the race).</p>

<p>I apologize for not posting that we are still on for this week and hope that those who have been joining us this winter know that the weekly posts are mostly just to verify.</p>
<p> I would like to let everyone know that my apartment was broken into earlier this week which has been the major reason I have not been able to post for this week yet. However, I feel safe with the current security measures put in place and with hosting the group for this last Winter season run.</p>
<p>Our Thursday night runs thus far have been exciting and challenging but social and fun. Yoga has been a great addition, from my perspective as a teacher- I have really liked engaging with the team in a new way that I believe and hope to share as a complement to running.</p>

Week 4</span></h3>
<p>We will be meeting for a run and yoga this evening, Feb 4th marking our 4th Thursday. We have had a solid group each week but certainly can accomodate more &#8211; so just a reminder that all are invited to join us at 6:30 at Kerry&#8217;s (my) house in downtown Carrboro.</p>
<p>I ran the roads that use we for our routes and they seem OK for running for the most part &#8211; just takes a bit more caution and attention. </p>
<p>In addition, or perhaps the post-snowy weather makes this a good week to take a rest from running- we have slots open for yoga. See the posting &#8220;Vishnu Yoga&#8221; to sign-up or email me as there are slots available.</p>
<p>We will likely be meeting this weekend to discuss the spring season, the Wrightsville Half Marathon/Marathon and possibly training for the Blue Ridge Relay in September. The time will most likely be in the morning after everyone has time for their run. I will post the final information. A clinic on &#8220;Sustainable running&#8221; &#8211; planning your running season to meet your goals- but have not had much response. Reminder that this is open to Team Sakina members past and present as well as anyone else - no participation in our runs required. Team Sakina is pleased to help those interested in running in a variety of ways. Last week was a bit on the cold and rainy side but fun for all who made it out! Whether you&#8217;ve come each week or considering joining us for your first, this Thursday should be a great opportunity for a run through the quiet residential roads of Carrboro before the snowstom hits. We have 4 route lengths to choose from ranging from 3.5 &#8211; 8 miles and welcome all paces.</div>
<div><strong>Announcement:</strong> Running Clinic is being offered this Saturday, January 30th! The aim of this first  1 1/2  hour clinic is to discuss translating running theory into sustainable winter/spring season training plans tailored to your goals. By the end of the clinic, each individual will be encouraged to choose several achievable goals or objectives and develop a plan for attaining them that break down each step week by week. In addition, we&#8217;ll go over basic ideas (do not postulate to know the rules of running) but address how to have a dynamic workout schedule that meets what intigues you for day to day wellness over the next period of months but accomodate to constraints of scheduling, injuries etc. And, all topics are open so please bring questions.</div>
<div>Sign up at the doodle link (provided on the &#8220;Mark your Caledar&#8221; post. Minimum of 5 people to hold the clinic, so invite anyone you think might be interested. We&#8217;ll hold the clinic at Open Eye Cafe in Carrboro. If weather makes the roads unsafe for driving the clinic might be rescheduled so please provide your email on the sign-up.</div>

Thursday</span></h4>
<ul>
<li><em><strong>Routes </strong></em>have been posted under the category &#8220;routes&#8221; &#8211; categories are located on the sidebar.
<ul>
<li>Please consult this page before practice to familiarize yourself- link to visual map and document with listed turns (cue sheet provide)</li>
<li>We will use these 3 routes for this week and subsequent weeks since the season is short to promote familiarity and enable people to catch-up if they arrive late.</li>
<li>More routes might be added if there is an interest in adding/changing route distances.</li>
<li>Routes currently mapped with route guide: 3.5 miles (Kerry), 6 miles (Caitlin), and 8 miles (Christianna)</li>
<li><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Cue Sheets</span>- ONE TIME printing of 25 sheets for each route will be available Thursday as well as 2 maps of each for viewing Thursday night. Priority given to route leaders and if you take one, please plan to reuse it or return it.</li>

</li>
<li><strong><em>Overview of this initial run</em></strong>
<ul>
<li>Have a question that has not been answered? Kerry will be at practice by 6pm for any questions/discussion. Please try to come during this time if possible.</li>
<li>Arrive in time to be ready announcements at 6:30
<ul>
<li>Remember to park on Pleasant unless you are one of the first here</li>
<li>Bring- reflective clothing/light/headlamp and water bottle</li>
<li>Waivers must be signed- see Kerry for form and give back before leave for run</li>
<li>Donation box- will be made visible and reviewed during announcements. If you opt for &#8220;Sustain:Sakina&#8221; alternative- please write down that this option was chosen &#8211; small sheets will be provided. Providing your name is optional</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Quick orientation and walk-through of how we will gather, form groups and flow through practice in general &#8211; 6:30-6:40</li>
<li>Check-in with coach and buddy- please make sure that a coach/runner guide knows you are here AND one other person. If you alter the run course/ leave early please notify that person.</li>
<li>Open house- we&#8217;ll meet inside and feel free to make yourself at home</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li><strong><em>Tea </em></strong>- will be served post run and hopefully will have enough mugs. Welcome to stay as long as you like- though please try to keep your voice down past 7:45pm.</li>
<li><strong><em>Yoga</em></strong>

<li>Please bring mat (or indicate on sign-up that mat is needed) and change of clothing if you&#8217;d like looser clothing</li>
